I remember Tiny from the Laugh In Days and never thought much about him afterwards.

Comments: Thanks folks..

I remember Tiny from the Laugh In Days and never thought much about him afterwards. As a lifelong musician, in my total ignorance I was always pretty condescending to Tiny should his name come up. Lately I fell in love with an old vintage Baritone, then I started collecting Ukes of all sizes and ages.. So of course Tiny was going to come back around to me some time or another. And this time I get it.. As a musician, the guy was sincere.. Watched some footage of him in the green room of some club, and he was singing some obvious WW1 era stuff ("may God bless all our boys tonight, wherever they may be") and I WISH I knew the song.. I really do.. I would like to work with it myself.. but he dropped the Falsetto and went totally Jolsen... and the footage of him, backstage doing what he SHOULD of always been doing musically, totaly blew me away. Right up with Django, Jimi, Les, Lanza, Holladay, Parker, etc.. I get it now.. the guy was a giant. I don't adore him, but I certainly owe him a good deal more respect than I have gave him for 4 decades. Anyways, thanks for being amongst the recent influences that have set the record straight.. there is a lot of false info out there, and I am tickled you took the time to help wanderers like me, to understand there is always more than meets the eye.

You all done good!

Hi Chuck,

It's always great to get emails like yours. Tiny was always considered a one hit oddity and not many gave him a fair chance. His talent was unlimited and he was very sincere and kind to everyone. He was also a walking encyclopedia of music knowledge and knew thousands of songs off the top of his head. I'm so glad you like my website, I hope it helps you to learn more about this great performer and human being. Who knows, maybe you'll end up adoring him too!

Best,
Ernie Clark (tinytim.org)
