Tiptoe to New Jersey
Her televised wedding to Tiny Tim in December 1969 gave Johnny Carson his highest ratings to that
date, with an audience of 35 million tuning in. But 25 years later, "Miss Vicky" still can't figure
out what the big deal was.
"I don't get it," Victoria Lombardi told the Daily News last week. "I watched the moon landing, and
that seemed rather important, but this I don't understand at all."
Lombardi was a shy, unknown 17-year-old from Haddonfield, N.J., when she exchanged vows with the
falsetto-voiced, stringy-haired singer, whose real name is Herbert Khaury.
The marriage collapsed within two years, and after they divorced, Lombardi had to raise the couple's
only child, Tulip, with almost no support from Khaury.
Finally she found a quiet spot in New Jersey to dive into obscurity, working at a store where "nobody
knew anything about my past."
Last month Lombardi, now 42, opened her own store - Aqua Luna - in Maple Shade, N.J..
She sells things she's "always loved": candles, incense, crystals, jewelry and "all things wicken."
So far, business has been good, she said.
And what about Tiny Tim? "We talk from time to time, but we don't see each other," Lombardi said. Marion Davis
